Release Conditions

Create New Release Conditions

Step 1

Navigate to the activity/tool for which you want to use a Release Condition.

Step 2

Open the activity/tool for editing.

Instructions for opening the activity/tool for editing are different per activity/tool. If you are unsure how to open the activity/tool for edit, locate and review the Help Page for that activity/tool.

Step 3

In the activity/tool, navigate to the Availability Dates & Conditions area.

Step 4

Expand Availability Dates & Conditions (if applicable), then select Add Release Condition.

Step 5

Select Create New.

Step 6

Use the dropdown menu to select Condition Type.

Step 7

An additional Condition Details dropdown menu will appear and provide choices based on what was selected for Condition Type. Select the specific requirement. 

Step 8

Select Create.

Step 9

(Optional) If you have more than one condition that users must satisfy, continue to add conditions by following Steps 5 - 8.

Step 10

(Optional) If more than one Release Condition has been added to the activity/tool, an additional menu appears and allows you to set how conditions interact.

  • Select All conditions must be met if the user must satisfy all conditions.
  • Select Any condition must be met if the user must satisfy only one of the conditions.

Step 11

Select Save and Close.

Add Existing Release Conditions

Step 1

Navigate to the activity/tool for you want to use a Release Condition.

Step 2

Open the activity/tool for editing.

Step 3

In the activity/tool, navigate to the Availability Dates & Conditions area.

Step 4

Expand Availability Dates & Conditions (if applicable), then select Add Release Condition.

Step 5

Select Add Existing.

Step 6

Select the Release Condition(s) by checking the box to the left of the condition(s). If you have many Release Conditions, use the View Conditions for menu to filter by a specific tool.

Step 7

Select the Attach button.

Step 8

(Optional) If you have more than one condition that users must satisfy, continue to add conditions by following Steps 5 - 8.

Step 9

(Optional) If more than one Release Condition has been added to the activity/tool, an additional menu appears and allows you to set how conditions interact.

  • Select All conditions must be met if the user must satisfy all conditions.
  • Select Any condition must be met if the user must satisfy only one of the conditions.

Step 10

Select Save and Close.

Remove Release Conditions

Step 1

Navigate to the activity/tool from which you want to remove the Release Condition.

Step 2

Open the activity/tool for editing.

Step 3

In the activity/tool, navigate to the Availability Dates & Conditions area.

Step 4

Expand Availability Dates & Conditions (if applicable), then locate the Release Condition(s). 

Step 5

Select the X next to the Release Condition(s) you want to remove. 

Step 6

Select Save and Close.


Release Condition Triggers

Note

The following are the available types of Release Conditions, organized by the tool they pertain to along with details of what triggers the condition. 


Once a trigger is met, the condition is satisfied & the action is taken. If a condition is subsequently unmet, the trigger no longer applies & the condition is not met.

Assignment Triggers

Trigger

Triggers when...

Submission to folder Specified user has at least one submission to the corresponding assignment folder
Receive Feedback on submission Specified user any published (i.e. not draft) instructor feedback on the assignment itself.
Score on associated rubric Specified user earns given value on the associated rubric (which may differ from the grade item score itself).
No submission to folder Specified user has exactly zero submissions to the corresponding assignment folder.
Score on associated outcome Not available at the University of Arizona.

Award Triggers

Award earned Specified user has received the corresponding award.

Checklist Triggers

Completed checklist All items of associated checklist are marked completed.
Completed checklist item Specified item of associated checklist is marked complete.

Classlist Triggers

Group enrollment Selected user is enrolled in associated group.
Org unit enrollment Selected user is enrolled in the specific course.
Section enrollment Selected user is enrolled in the specified section of the current course.
Role in current org unit Selected user has specified role in the current course Classlist.
Date of enrollment in current org unit Selected user's date of enrollment in current course.

Competencies Triggers

Note

Competencies Triggers are not presently enabled at the University of Arizona.  

Completion Tracking Triggers

Trigger

Course complete All modules/submodules in the current course are marked complete.

Note

Tracking must be enabled in the course site; see Completion Tracking (opens in a new tab).

Content Triggers

Trigger

Triggers when...

Visited content topic Specified item in Content has been visited by a user
Visited all content topics All specified items in Content have been visited by a user
Not visited content topic Specified item in Content has not been visited by a user
Not completed content topic Specified item in Content has not been marked complete (either automatic or manual completion marking)

Note

Content triggers do not indicate total time spent on an item; the system merely looks to see that a user has or hasn't been to the specified topic. This does not indicate the time spent engaging with the content within that topic.

Discussion Triggers

Trigger

Triggers when...

Posts authored in a topic Selected user has authored at least one post in the specified discussion topic.
Score on associated rubric Specified user has earned given value on the associated rubric (which may differ from the grade item score itself).
No posts authored in topic Selected user has authored exactly zero posts in the specified discussion topic.
Score on associated outcome Not available at the University of Arizona.

Grades Triggers
