Restore Archived Content

When a recording is restored from the archive, there is a 30 day hold placed upon it to ensure it is not archived immediately again by a retention policy. If the video is not viewed or edited in the 30 day period following its restoration, it will be archived again.

Individually Restore Archived Content from Panopto Folder

Step 1

Access Panopto and navigate to the folder that has archived content.

Step 2

You can then access a folder's archived videos by selecting the Archived button. When this is selected, only archived videos will appear.

Step 3

Select or hover your mouse over the video you want to restore, which will appear with the archive icon overtop of its thumbnail image. Select the Restore from Archive button.

Bulk Restore Archived Content from Panopto Folder

This option is only available for those with Creator or greater access to Panopto.

Step 1

Access Panopto and navigate to the folder that has archived content.

Step 2

Select the Archive icon that appears in the upper right corner near the folder settings icon to be taken to the folder's Archive page.

Step 3

Select one of the videos by placing a checkmark in the upper left corner of the video thumbnail.

Step 4

Select ALL of the videos in the folder by placing a checkmark in the top level checkbox. Alternatively, if you did not want to select all of the videos, you can manually select multiple other videos you desire.

Step 5

Select the Restore button to restore all selected videos within the archive folder.

Restore Archived Content from Panopto Viewer

If you attempt to view an archived video from either the Panopto Viewer or Embedded Viewer, the following message will appear: This video has been archived and must be restored from the archive before it can be viewed. Restoring the video may take up to 48 hours.

Step 1

When you view a video that has been archived within the Panopto viewer interface, it will display the video's thumbnail on the left and the archive message on the right.

Step 2

Select the Restore from Archive button to restore the video.

Restore Archived Content from Embedded Viewer

If you attempt to view an archived video from either the Panopto Viewer or Embedded Viewer, the following message will appear: This video has been archived and must be restored from the archive before it can be viewed. Restoring the video may take up to 48 hours.

Step 1

When you view a video that has been archived within the Panopto Embedded Viewer interface, it will appear darkened out with the message displayed over top of it.

Step 2

Select the Restore from Archive linked text to restore the video.
