Digication Kora

Important

If you are an instructor for UNIV 101: Introduction to the General Education Experience or UNIV 301: General Education Portfolio, please reference General Education's ePortfolio Guide (opens in new tab) for instructions on using Digication.

What is Digication Kora?

Digication is an ePortfolio tool that allows students to showcase their work online. ePortfolios are shareable to the public and are accessible to students beyond their time at UArizona. Beginning in Fall 2024, all new ePortfolios will be created using Digication's newest version known as Digication Kora.

What's Changed?

Digication Kora features a few refined processes both for instructors and learners. If you are familiar with Digication's Classic experience, the user interface will appear largely unchanged. The most important new and/or improved features include:

  • Easier ePortfolio submission and sharing process for learners.
  • With Digication Assignments, instructors can grade submissions directly within Digication and grades will automatically transfer to Grades in Brightspace.
  • Students can now submit either draft or published work in a single step without the need to configure sharing permissions.
  • Instructors can view all assignment submissions on one screen, eliminating the need for multiple tabs.
  • Assignments can now include templates and prompts to help students get started more easily.
  • Submissions can be shared with classmates for peer feedback.

Importantly, all ePortfolios and courses created with Digication Classic will continue to be accessible to all users. Only new ePortfolios will be created using Digication Kora.

Access Digication from Brightspace

Note

Instructors and students should access Digication for the first time via Brightspace through one of the two methods below to ensure that the ePortfolios are created and linked to the Brightspace course site correctly.

Digication can also be accessed at arizona.digication.com (opens in new tab). However, we would recommend that students access Digication via Brightspace for the duration of their time at the UofA.

To get started, access Digication in one of two recommended ways:

  • Select the Digication link in the UA Tools menu in the navbar of your Brightspace course site. If the navbar has been altered from the default or you've copied an old navbar into your site, this link may not exist.

  • Add a link to Digication in the Content area of your course site: From Content, navigate to an existing module or create a new module. Select the Existing Activities button and choose External Learning Tools. Select Digication ePortfolio and a general link to Digication will be added in Content.

How to Use Digication Kora in Your Course Site

Digication is a highly adaptable tool used in general education courses, capstone and experiential learning programs, and more. How you utilize the tool is up to you. However, below are some general steps to get started. Please reference the Digication Training site for more in-depth instruction.

  1. Instructor designs and shares a template (opens in new tab).
  2. Students create their ePortfolio from the template (opens in new tab).
  3. Students edit their ePortfolio, then share and publish their work (opens in new tab).
  4. (Optional) Instructor creates and shares assignments (opens in new tab).
  5. (Optional) Instructor assesses and provides feedback on assignments (opens in new tab).

Connect Digication Assignments to Grades in Brightspace

Each assignment you create in Digication can sync with a grade item in the Brightspace grade book. Please note that this is a one-way sync. Changes made to a grade item in Digication will update in Grades in Brightspace, however, a score updated in Grades will not update in Digication.

Note

At this time, Digication only sends a score to the associated Brightspace grade item. Students will need to access feedback from within Digication.

  1. While creating a new Digication assignment or editing an existing one, in the Grading section, toggle the option for Send grade to University of Arizona Brightspace.
