VoiceThread Retention Policy
The University's VoiceThread data and account archival policy is to archive and delete a user's VoiceThread account and data after 5 years of inactivity.
To ensure your account does not go inactive and then eventually be archived (content deleted), simply log into VoiceThread at minimum every 5 years. You can ensure that your account will not go inactive or be archived by navigating to https://arizona.voicethread.com and sign in using NetID and password.
If your account has been inactive (no logins) for 5 years, the VoiceThread account will be flagged as inactive. When flagged as inactive, you will receive an email notification, and the account will remain inactive for 30 days. While inactive, the account can be automatically reactivated by you by logging into the VoiceThread website at the above URL. No data will be lost.
Once that 30 days has passed, if the account is still inactive, the account will be flagged as archived for an additional 30 days. Once the account has moved to archived, we as VoiceThread Administrators can still restore the account at your request. Once that 30 days in archive has passed, the account and all associated data will be permanently deleted.
If you have had another party (someone like a TA/GA or a preceptor) make VoiceThread content for one of your courses, we strongly recommend ensuring that you have copied any VoiceThread content out of that person’s account and into your own to avoid losing data in that person’s account if they go to archive.
If you have any questions, if your account has been archived and you’d like it restored, or if you would like help moving something out of a TA/GA account and into your own, please contact us at intech@arizona.edu.
