New Login Pages for Brightspace and CSR
On May 27, 2025, the Brightspace and CSR login pages will offer a refreshed design featuring the Brightspace name and rebranded URL. These changes apply to the campus Brightspace Learning Management System (LMS) and the Course Site Request (CSR) tool.
Note
To prepare, we recommend bookmarking the new Brightspace and CSR URLs. Previous URLs will continue to work through automatic redirects. This update is part of our transition from D2L to Brightspace terminology and includes modern enhancements to the system.
Faster Navigation in Quick Eval
Grading with Quick Eval (opens in new tab) has always been streamlined, but now it's even more efficient thanks to enhanced navigation workflow. After completing an evaluation, instructors are automatically redirected to the next submission in their evaluation list, even if those submissions are sourced from different activity types or courses. Additionally, navigation arrows at the top and bottom of the page enable instructors to move forward or backward through the list.
This enhancement removes the need to return to the main screen to locate the next item, making grading smoother and more fluid.
Unsubscribe Button in Email Notifications
To enhance user experience and reduce unwanted emails, Brightspace notification emails now include an Unsubscribe link (opens in new tab). Selecting this link opens a confirmation window where users can opt out of all email notifications, including both instant and summary notifications.
The Unsubscribe link does not require an individual to login to Brightspace, allowing users without access to opt out easily. Previously, login access was required to adjust notification settings.
Export Group Enrollment Data
Good news for instructors using Groups in Brightspace! You can now export group enrollment data directly from the Groups tool, making it easier to create group-specific lists and manage data efficiently.
The Export button, now available in the Groups tool, allows instructors to export group data to a CSV file that includes:
- Group category details
- Group names
- User enrollment information
- Enrollment dates
Previously, there was no built-in method to export data from the Groups tool, making this a significant enhancement for group management.
Bulk Feedback Options in Assignments and Discussions
Providing feedback just got easier! Instructors can now add bulk feedback directly within the Assignments and Discussions submission pages. This streamlined process allows for feedback to be added to multiple learners at once, enhancing efficiency and simplifying grading tasks.
Key features include the ability to add and save bulk feedback as a draft, update existing drafts or published evaluations, and apply feedback to selected learners or to all learners at once. A helpful warning message also appears if an empty feedback dialog is saved, preventing accidental overwrites.
Assignments now also supports bulk feedback retraction, aligning with the functionality in Discussions and Quizzes. Instructors can easily retract feedback from multiple learners or from all learners with a single action.
A confirmation message displays the number of evaluations to be retracted and prompts instructors to confirm by selecting Retract to proceed. Previously, Assignment feedback could only be retracted individually.
Recurring Events Now Available in Pulse
Recurring events created in the Brightspace Calendar tool now appear in the Pulse mobile app (opens in new tab), ensuring students have clear and consistent access to important dates. When students open the Events tab in Pulse, all scheduled events – including those that repeat weekly or monthly – are now listed.
This update supports better organization and planning for students.
