Scheduling Deadlines and Granting Extensions
Scheduling Deadlines
Scheduling deadlines can be set in FeedbackFruits, which will automatically add a calendar event to the Brightspace Course Calendar in your course. Many steps in a FeedbackFruits activity can have separate scheduling deadlines, and each one will add a separate event to the Course Calendar. You can set the Deadline by selecting the Date field, and picking the date from the calendar that appears. Additionally, you can allow for late submissions and allow students who didn't hand in/post to still participate in later discussions in the activity.
Warning
Adding a Scheduling Deadline in a course adds Calendar events to the Course Calendar. It is important to note that copying those Calendar events to another course will cause the links in the event to link back to the original course, resulting in students receiving an error message when following the link from the new course.
To avoid this happening, we recommend that when copying a Brightspace course forward to another course, you do NOT copy Course Calendar events or at least ensure that you aren't selecting the FeedbackFruits calendar events when copying.
Note
Typically, adding a Scheduling Deadline on a FeedbackFruits step that requires students make a submission before being paired with a peer, results in students needing to wait for that deadline on the submission step to pass before moving on to peer discussions/reviews.
Granting Extensions
When a Scheduling Deadline is set on an activity step, the Grant Extension button will appear at the top of that step. To grant a deadline extension to a particular student or group of students do the following steps.
Step 1
Select the Grant Extension button.
Step 2
To set the extension, search for the student/group name, or select it from the Students/Groups dropdown. Select the new due date, and select the DONE button.
