PlayPosit Is Becoming WeVideo Interactivity: FAQ

PlayPosit to WeVideo FAQ

Following WeVideo’s acquisition of PlayPosit in 2022 (opens in a new tab), PlayPosit is completing its transition to a new name and user interface: WeVideo Interactivity (opens in a new tab). Importantly, this change is primarily a branding and interface refresh, and the platform continues to function in essentially the same way it always has and the student experience is nearly identical. This FAQ page has been created to support users during this transition.

What is changing?

PlayPosit is completing its transition to a new name and refreshed interface: WeVideo Interactivity. This follows WeVideo’s acquisition of PlayPosit and is primarily a branding and interface update, not a change in how the tool fundamentally works. UCATT’s InTech internal help pages and support materials will be gradually updated to reflect the new WeVideo name and interface by the end of 2026.

When is this happening?

The University of Arizona will complete the platform migration and Brightspace integration upgrade during the week of May 18, 2026.

Do I need to do anything?

No action is required. All existing PlayPosit content, courses, and links are preserved and will continue to work. Instructors may wish to log into Brightspace after the migration to familiarize themselves with the updated interface and confirm that existing content appears as expected.

Is this a new tool?

No. WeVideo Interactivity is the continuation of PlayPosit. Core functionality, instructor workflows, and the student experience remain essentially the same.

Will my existing PlayPosit content be affected?

No. All interactive videos (“bulbs”), playlists, analytics, and learner data are fully preserved.

Can I still call it PlayPosit?

Yes. There is no expectation that you update syllabi, activity instructions, or course language right away. We are treating summer 2026 as a transition period and will be using both names for some time.

How will I access the tool?

You will continue to access interactive videos through D2L Brightspace.

When logging in at playposit.arizona.edu, you will be redirected to the WeVideo Interactivity platform (wevideo.com), where all of your existing content remains available. Over time, this URL will transition to wevideo.arizona.edu.

Can I copy my D2L courses forward as usual?

Yes. Courses can be copied forward normally, and existing PlayPosit links will continue to work in copied courses without needing to be recreated.

What is LTI 1.3, and why is it mentioned?

As part of this update, the University of Arizona is upgrading the Brightspace connection to LTI 1.3, a newer integration standard that:

  • Improves security and data privacy
  • Aligns with current LMS standards
  • Supports long‑term platform stability

This upgrade occurs largely behind the scenes.

Will grading work the same way?

Largely yes, with one important difference:

  • All interactive videos now sync grades by default. The previous option to disable grade syncing is no longer supported in LTI 1.3.
  • If you use interactive videos for ungraded practice or engagement, you will need to hide and drop the associated grade item in the Brightspace gradebook.

Grade items will continue to be created automatically when interactive videos are added via Existing Activities, which remains the recommended method.

Has the student experience changed?

No significant changes. The interface has been refreshed, but the overall student experience is essentially unchanged.

Will I be able to use the AI Assist feature in WeVideo Interactivity?

Not yet. The AI Assist feature is not currently available to instructors at the University of Arizona.

Our team is actively testing and evaluating this new capability to ensure it meets campus standards for instructional value, data privacy, and accessibility. We are excited about its potential, and once our evaluation is complete, we will communicate availability and next steps to campus.

No action is needed at this time.

Are there training sessions or demos?

Yes. UCATT is hosting webinars in collaboration with the PlayPosit/WeVideo team:

Recordings will be available after the sessions for all who register.
