Build or Modify a Question Library

The Quizzes tool is two tools in one. It contains a Question Library, where you build and store questions that you can import into any quiz, survey, or self-assessment, and a Quizzes tool where you build and administer your quizzes.

Create Quiz Sections / Question Library Folders

A folder in your Question Library translates to a section in your quiz. Storing your questions in an orderly Question Library will make them easier to find when you need them.

Step 1             

Select Quizzes from the course navbar.

Step 2                   

Select the Question Library tab.

Step 3                   

Select the New button. Select Section from the menu.

Step 4                   

Type in a Section Title that will help you to identify the questions stored inside this section.

Step 5                   

Select the Save button (or use the Save menu to save and create a new section, or save and make a copy of this section).

Step 6                   

Repeat this process to create as many sections in your Question Library as you would like.

Create Quiz Subsections

Step 1                             

Select Quizzes from the course navbar.

Step 2                           

Select the Question Library tab.

Step 3                           

Step 4                           

Follow the same steps from the section Create Sections above to create a section.

Step 5                           

Repeat this process to add as many subsections as you would like.

Create New Questions in the Question Library

To prevent formatting problems, we recommend that you type rather than cut-and-paste your question text.

Step 1                   

Select Quizzes from the course navbar.

Step 2                   

Select the Question Library tab.

Step 3                   

Select the name of any section folder to open it.

Step 4                   

Select the New button. Select the question type you wish to create from the menu.

Import Questions from a Quiz

Step 1                   

Select Quizzes from the course navbar.

Step 2                   

Select the Question Library tab.

Step 3                   

Select the name of any Section folder to open it.

Step 4                   

Select the Import button. Select Browse Existing Questions.

Step 5                   

Select Source and select the quiz you want to copy from.

Step 6                   

Select the Preview icon to view any question in detail.

Step 7                 

Use the checkboxes to select questions to add to your Question Library.

Step 8                   

Select the Import button.

Move Questions

Step 1 

Select the checkboxes next to the question(s) or section(s) you wish to move.

Step 2 

Select the Move button.

Step 3 

Select the Section where you want to relocate the questions.

Reorder Questions or Sections in Your Library

Step 1 

Select the Order button.

Step 2 

Select the checkbox next to the section and/or question you wish to move.

Step 3 

Select the up or down arrow depending on the direction you want to move your selection.

Step 4 

Select the Save button.

Edit a Question or Section in Your Library

Step 1              

Select the Actions Menu icon (down caret) next to the name of the question you would like to edit and select Edit.

Step 2

Make your changes.

Step 3

If you edit a question that has already been imported into a Quiz, Survey, or Self-Assessment, you will have the option to update it in both places.

Step 4

Select the Save button.

Delete a Question or Section 

Step 1 

Select the checkbox to the left of every question and/or section you intend to delete.

Step 2 

Select Delete.

Step 3

In the confirmation window that appears, Select the Delete button.
