VoiceThread Notifications
VoiceThread notifications can sometimes be overwhelming, especially if you are associated with many different courses that use VoiceThread, or there are many VoiceThreads used in your course. If you find you are receiving too many VoiceThread notifications, below you will find a description of the different types of notifications, as well as some instructions about turning them on or off.
Daily Digest
The Daily Digest is an email that is sent to you every 24 hours that lists all comments made in the past 24 hours on VoiceThreads that you own, that were shared with you, or to which you have subscribed. It also lists any VoiceThreads that were shared with your VoiceThread Groups in the past 24 hours.
The Daily Digest is enabled by default. To disable it, follow these steps:
Step 1
Navigate to the VoiceThread Home Page (opens in a new tab).
Step 2
Sign in with NetID and password if necessary by selecting Sign in from the VoiceThread navbar.
Step 3
Select your profile picture or initials identity image from the VoiceThread navbar.
Step 4
Select My Account from the menu.
Step 5
Select the Notifications tab.
Step 6
Toggle the individual notifications sliders to On or Off, depending on preference. New settings are saved automatically.
Instant Notifications
By default, you will receive an instant email notification every time someone records a comment on a VoiceThread that you own, that was shared with you, that you have commented on, or that you have subscribed to. You can select the comment in that email to open the VoiceThread in your web browser.
Instant notifications are enabled by default. To disable them, follow these steps:
Step 1
Navigate to the VoiceThread Home Page (opens in a new tab).
Step 2
Sign in with NetID and password if necessary by selecting Sign in from the VoiceThread navbar.
Step 3
Select your profile picture or initials identity image from the VoiceThread navbar.
Step 4
Select My Account from the menu.
Step 5
Select the Notifications tab.
Step 6
Toggle the individual notifications sliders to On or Off, depending on preference. New settings are saved automatically.
Note
If you’d like to unsubscribe from one particularly active VoiceThread, you can unsubscribe from the email notification you received. Select the link in the email that says Stop sending me instant notifications on this VoiceThread. You will be immediately unsubscribed from that specific VoiceThread. You can re-subscribe to this VoiceThread on your Notifications tab (see steps above).
Sharing Notifications
When a VoiceThread is shared, the sharer may opt to send an email notification that the VoiceThread was shared. You’ll be able to access the VoiceThread directly from that email, and you’ll also see the shared VoiceThread on your VT Home page when you sign into VoiceThread.
