Rename your Course Site

Step 1

Select Course Admin in the navbar.

Step 2 

Select Course Offering Information.

Step 3

Enter the new name for the course in the Course Offering Name field.

Step 4 

Select Save.

Add Banner Image on Your Course Homepage

Step 1

Hover over the tile image of the course on your D2L Homepage (where the course titles are listed).

Select the Course Settings menu (three dots in a box).

Select Course Offering Information.

Step 4

Scroll down to the section that says Homepage Banner.

Step 5

Select the checkbox Display the image in a banner on the course homepage.

Step 6

Select Save.

Remove Your Course Banner 

Step 1

In the course, select the Banner Settings menu.

Step 2

To remove the banner altogether, select Remove this Banner.

Select or Change Course Banner Image

Step 1

From the Course Home, select the Banner Settings menu, then choose Change Image.

Step 2

Choose an image from the image bank by select Use this image or select Upload to use your own image. If uploading, follow the remaining steps below.

Step 3

Select My Computer.

Step 4

Select Upload (or drag and drop an image into the box and skip to step 7).

Note

The recommended image size is 2400 X 900 pixels.

Step 5

Select the image on your computer.

Step 6

Select Open.

Step 7

Select Add.

Step 8

Select Save.

Place an Announcement on Your Course Homepage

These steps explain how to place an announcement on your homepage quickly. More details about using announcements are located on the Announcements help page.

Step 1

Select the Announcements Actions Menu icon.

Select New Announcement.

Step 3

Enter a title for the announcement in the Headline box.

Step 4

Enter the announcement text in the Content box. You can format text, add links and add images using the HTML editor.

Step 5

Select Publish to post the announcement.

Edit the Course Homepage

Note

The Default homepage is not editable but copies of the default homepage are. To edit a homepage, first you need to make a copy to work with.

Step 1

Select Course Admin in the Navbar and select Homepages.

Note

In a new course site, the active homepage is set to Default: Course Home homepage. If a different homepage has been selected or copied from a different course site, you will see Active listed next to the currently active homepage.

Step 2a

If the Active homepage is clickable (i.e., it's already a copy), select the title and skip to step 4.

Step 2b

If not, select the Actions Menu icon to the right of the homepage title and select Copy to make a copy of the homepage.

Step 3

Select the copy of the homepage. It will have the same name as the original homepage with the word Copy appended.

Step 4

Make your desired changes to the homepage (e.g., name, layout, widgets, etc.) and select Save and Close.

Step 5

Activate the copy by selecting the Active Homepage dropdown menu at the top of available homepages, selecting your new homepage, and selecting the Apply button.

Design Your Own Homepage

Step 1

Go to Course Admin and select Homepages.

Step 2

Select Create Homepage.

Step 3

Give the homepage a Name.

Step 4

If you want to update the layout, select Change Layout and pick one of the options. Select Update.

Step 5

Add Widgets to the different panels below. You can adjust their position anytime by clicking and dragging them into position, including from one panel to another.

Step 6

Select Save and Close.

Step 7

To use the new homepage, select it from the Active Homepage dropdown menu, and select Apply.
