Step 1
Select Quizzes from your course navbar.
Step 2
Select the Edit Categories button.
Step 3
Select the Add Category button.
Step 4
Give your category a name by entering text in the Name field.
Step 5

Regrade a Quiz Question
Note
We strongly recommend waiting until everyone has taken the quiz before regrading any questions, otherwise, things can get quite complicated in D2L.
Step 1
Select Quizzes in the course navbar.
Step 2
Select the quiz's Action Menu icon and select Grade.
Step 3
Select the Questions tab.
Step 4
Select Update All Attempts.
Step 5
Select the question you want to regrade.
Step 6
Below Grading Type, select the round radio button for one of the following options:
Select Give to all attempts ___ points if you want to give everyone who took the quiz points for this question and enter the number of points in the empty field.
Select Give to attempts with answer ___ points if you want to give points to everyone who gave a particular answer. Use the drop-down menu to choose the answer, and enter the number of points in the empty field.
Step 7
Select the Save button.
Step 8
Select the Yes button in the confirmation window.
Step 9
Select the Go Back to Questions button.
Step 10
Select the Close button when finished.
Note
Quiz grades will automatically update. If your quiz is set to transfer grades to the gradebook automatically, then the score will also update in the gradebook.
Submit a Student’s “Quiz Attempt in Progress”
Sometimes, students do not successfully submit their quizzes. They may miss a click or, depending on the quiz settings, run out of time and lose the ability to submit. For the quiz to be graded, it has to be submitted. The solution is for the instructor to submit the quiz on behalf of the student.
Note
Once you submit the quiz, it will be graded according to your chosen settings.
Step 1
Select Quizzes in the course navbar.
Step 2
Select the quiz's Action Menu icon and select Grade.
Step 3
Select Show Search Options (if they do not already appear below the Search field).
Step 4
In the "Restrict to" dropdown menu, select Users with attempts in progress.
Step 5
Select the search icon (magnifying glass in the "Search " field).
Step 6
Select the Enter Quiz as User icon.
Step 7
In the confirmation window, select the Yes button.
Step 8
Scroll to the bottom of the page again and select Submit Quiz.
Reset a Student’s Quiz Attempt
Note
This process deletes the attempt completely—any answers the student provided and any grade they received will be deleted. Please only proceed if this is the desired outcome. If you'd rather keep the first attempt and grant the student a second attempt at the quiz, use the Special Access features.
Step 1
Select Quizzes in the course navbar.
Step 2
Select the quiz's Action Menu icon and select Grade.
Step 3
Select the checkbox next to the attempt(s) you want to delete, then select Reset (trash can icon).
Step 4
In the confirmation window, select the Yes button.
Restore a Deleted Quiz Attempt
Use the Quiz Attempt Log to restore a student's deleted quiz attempt.
Step 1
Select the quiz's Action Menu icon. Select Attempt Logs.
Step 2
Select the Quiz Attempt Deleted tab.
Step 3
Select Restore.
