Grade Rubrics in Written Response Questions
New Quiz Evaluation Experience
The New Quiz Evaluation Experience, an enhanced feature designed to streamline grading workflows, is now the default. Until July 2025, evaluators can still opt out to return to the Classic/Legacy Evaluation Experience. To do so, select a quiz, then select Grade to view all attempts. From any Quiz Attempt, choose the Action Menu icon (downward arrow) in the upper-right corner above the user number. From the options that appear, select Turn It Off.
Key improvements include:
- Consistency: Interface matches the Assignments and Discussions evaluation experience.
- User-Friendly Navigation: Easily scroll between users and select the specific quiz attempt you wish to evaluate.
- Rubric Integration: Attach rubrics to individual Written Response Questions for more structured feedback.
To utilize rubrics for written response items in quizzes, you must remain in the New Quiz Evaluation Experience. If you are not, click the Action Menu icon in the upper-right corner of any quiz attempt and select Turn It On.
Important
It’s advisable to save any feedback entered before switching between New and Classic Quiz Evaluations, as this can help prevent its loss.
