Create Assignment Folder for Students to Post Videos

This page explores how to create an assignment folder for the students in your course to create and post Panopto videos. An assignment folder is a subfolder that shares a user list with its parent folder. Those with Viewer access to the parent folder have the ability to record and upload videos to the assignment folder.

Note

  • An assignment folder is the only type of folder that will allow those with a viewer role to upload and record videos within it. Normal subfolders do not allow those with a viewer role to upload or create content.
  • If you will be giving your students this kind of video assignment you can share the following help page with them:

Instructional Steps

Step 1

Access your D2L course and in the Navbar select UA Tools and then select Panopto.

Step 2

You will now be inside your course Panopto folder. Select the Folder Settings icon located in the upper right corner.

Step 4

A link to the new assignment folder will automatically appear with the parent folder's name and the word assignments in brackets next to it. It is recommended that you rename this folder to a much simpler name (i.e., Submit Here). Learn how to rename the folder at Change a Folder Name (opens in a new tab).

Step 5

Exit out of the folder settings window by pressing the Esc key on your keyboard or by selecting the delete (X) in the upper right-hand corner of the window.

Step 6

The new assignment folder has now been added as a subfolder within the course folder. The students in your class will now be able to add content to this folder.
