Allow Some Students to Have Special Access

Step 1 

Select Quizzes from the course navbar.

Step 2 

Select on the quiz name.

Step 3 

Select the Availability Dates & Conditions section to expand it.

Step 4 

Select Manage Special Access.

Select Allow selected users special access to this quiz to change the availability dates, time limit, and more for specific students while allowing others to access the quiz. Select the Add Users to Special Access button.

Select Allow only users with special access to see this quiz if you would like only certain users to access the quiz. 

Step 6

To change the dates:

Select the check boxes next to Has Due Date, Has Start Date, and/or Has End Date.

Note

When you add Start and End Dates, students can see the quiz but not take it outside that date range. When you add a Due Date, it serves as a reference only; students can still take the quiz after the Due Date.

Step 6b

Select the date field(s) to open a calendar and select a date.

Select the time field(s) to open a menu to select a time.

To allow more time to take the quiz, select Override time limit. Select Set time limit and enter values for a New Time Limit, Multiplier, or Extra Time.

To change the settings for what happens when the time limit is up, select Override behavior when time limit is exceeded and choose an option for When The Time Limit Expires.

Step 9

If you want these students to be able to take the quiz multiple times, select Override attempts allowed and select the Attempts Allowed field to indicate the number of attempts.

Step 10 

From the list, select the checkbox next to the students' names to get the accommodations.

Note

Students with an icon next to their name (hover text reads, "This multiplier is a course level accommodation") have been [LINK: given an accommodation through the classlist (opens in new window)]. See Section 4 below for more details.

Step 11

Select the Save button.

Step 12

Select the Save and Close button to save your changes.

Set Release Conditions

With this tool, students must meet specific requirements before seeing a quiz.

Step 1 

Select Quizzes from the course navbar.

Step 2 

Select the quiz name.

Step 3 

Select expand the Availability Dates & Conditions section.

Step 4 

Select the Add Release Condition button and choose Create New.

Use the Condition Type dropdown menu to select the restriction criteria.

Step 6 

The Conditions Details dropdown menu will update based on what was selected for the Condition Type. Use this menu to determine specifics.

Step 7 

Based on what Conditions you selected, additional information may be required. Once all information has been entered, select the Create button.

Step 8 

Once more than one release condition has been attached, a new menu that allows you to set how Conditions must be met will become active. This menu only appears if you have more than one condition attached. If so, select one of the options from the To view this item, users must satisfy menu:

All conditions must be met: if a student must meet every Condition before taking this quiz.

Any condition must be met: if a student must meet only one of the Conditions.

Step 9 

To delete a Condition, select the Remove Condition button (x icon).

Step 10 

Select the Save button to remain in this tab (or Save and Close to save your changes and exit the quiz).

Set DRC Student Accommodations

This feature lives in the Classlist tool; please reference [LINK: Accessing Quiz Accommodations from the Classlist]. With this feature, you can also always allow right-clicking for students who need to use assistive technologies to complete your quizzes.
