Interactive Media and Scenarios
On This Page:
This page explains the difference between Interactive Media and Scenarios. Knowing the difference between these two assets allows instructors to choose between the one that better suits their pedagogical needs. It also contains the instructions to guide you through the creation of your interactive media and scenarios in ThingLink.
Interactive Media
Interactive Media are visual learning resources that allow users to add hotspots to images, pictures, and videos. These hotspots can reveal additional content including text, images, videos, audio, web links, or questions, allowing learners to explore information directly within the interactive media. These are ideal for presenting content in a more immersive manner, helping students engage with the learning asset at their own pace.

Scenarios
Scenarios are interactive learning experiences that guide learners through a series of connected steps that can include images, videos, or activities where they make decisions and experience different outcomes. Unlike interactive media, which focus on exploring content within a single asset, scenarios are designed for decision-making, problem-solving, and applying knowledge in realistic situations. Learners can follow different paths based on their choices, making each experience unique. Scenario results, learner progress, and completion data can be linked to the Brightspace gradebook, providing instructors with insight into student participation, decisions, and performance.

Evaluation And Assessment Tools
The evaluation and assessment options allow you to control how learners progress through your scenario. You can set time limits to create a sense of urgency, assign scores to individual tasks or decision points to track how users progress through the experience, and choose whether learners will see their results at the end. These features help you measure performance and provide meaningful feedback within the scenario. To learn more about the tools available, please visit ThingLink: Evaluation and Assessment tools (opens in a new tab).
Note
Scenarios are the only type of interactive asset that can be linked to your Brightspace course's grade book. To learn how to do it, please visit our Insert ThingLink Scenario as a Graded Activity in Brightspace help page.
