Discussion Statistics

All Discussion Statistics can be reached by clicking the Statistics link at the top right of the Discussions page.

View Statistics By Student

Step 1

Class Statistics are listed at the top of the page and include the total number of Threads and Replies for all Discussion Forums.

Step 2

Under User Statistics, select the Actions Menu icon to the right of the View By field to display Groups if you have previously created Groups in your course and/or Sections if your course site contains more than one Section. Click the Apply button after you change the View By option.

Step 3

To search for a specific student, type the student's name in the Search field, then click on the Search icon.

View Statistics By Forum or Topic

Step 1

When you land on the Statistics page, select the Forums and Topics tab to the right of the Users tab.  Class Statistics are listed at the top of the page and include the total number of Threads and Replies for all Discussion Forums.

Step 2

The Forum/Topic Title column lists all Discussion Forums with associated Topics indented underneath. Select any Forum or Topic title to see the related User Statistics in a pop-up window.

Step 3

Select the Actions Menu icon to the right of the View By field to display Groups (if you have previously created Groups in your course) or Sections (if your course site contains more than one Section). Select the Apply button after you change the View By option.

Step 4

To search for a specific student, type the student's first and/or last name in the Search For field, then click the magnifying glass icon.

Step 5

Close to return to the Forums and Topics Statistics page.

Export Discussion Statistics

Step 1

Select the desired tab and click the Export to CSV File button near the top left of the page.

Step 2

A pop-up window will appear with a link to your file. Select the file link to open or save the file.

Step 3

Close to return to the Discussion Statistics page.
