Brightspace Community Integrations
Brightspace Community allows access to several third-party tools, such as Zoom, Panopto, VoiceThread, PlayPosit, and Qualtrics.
On This Page:
Create and Distribute Streaming Video
Create Audiovisual Discussions
Create Online Meetings
Create an online meeting with Zoom (opens in a new tab) video conferencing tools.
You are limited to having 200 total people in your Zoom meeting. This includes both participants and facilitators. The person creating the meeting must have a UA NetID.
Step 1
Create a meeting using the instructions on our Zoom help page.
Step 2
Copy and paste the URL for the meeting into your course site.
Note
To enter this meeting as the host, go to the UArizona Zoom Meeting portal (opens in a new tab) and log in with your NetID. Select the Meeting link, then select the Start button to the right of the Meeting topic and Meeting ID.
Create and Distribute Streaming Video
Create and upload videos for your course content using Panopto (opens in a new tab) tools.
Note
Panopto is not fully integrated in Brightspace Community as it is in Brightspace Campus. You can use these instructions to obtain a link to a video in your Panopto library and share it in your Brightspace Community site. The person creating the video must have a UA NetID.
Please remember, you have no Fair Use Exemption as your participants are not matriculated students.
Step 1
Go to UArizona Panopto site (opens in a new tab).
Step 2
Choose UA NetID. Log in with your UA NetID. This creates your account in Panopto.
Step 3
Use the Create button to upload an MP4 file you already have or to download the recorder and record a video. For detailed instructions, view Record a Panopto Video and Upload Videos to Panopto.
Step 4
Once the file is uploaded, mouse over the title and find the Share URL. For detailed instructions, view Share a Panopto Video.
Step 5
Copy and paste the URL into the desired Brightspace Community Content module via New > Create a Link.
Note
For help with Panopto, refer to their support documents and videos (opens in a new tab).
Create Audiovisual Discussions
Use VoiceThread (opens in a new tab) to create rich and engaging audiovisual discussions among course participants.
Step 1
Choose the module in which you want to include your VoiceThread.
Step 2
Select Add Existing Activity.
Step 3
Choose External Learning Tools.
Step 4
Choose VoiceThread.
Step 5
You and your participants will now access VoiceThread through the link in the module.
Note
Find comprehensive help for VoiceThread in the Integrated Technologies section of this site.
Include PlayPosit Interactions
PlayPosit (opens in a new tab) allows you to add engaging interactions to your existing videos.
PlayPosit takes the passive experience of simply watching a video and adds active learning components to make the same video an interactive and engaging experience. Instructors can use videos on streaming services like Panopto, Youtube, or Vimeo and add interaction points such as multiple choice or true/false questions, reflective pauses, polls, discussions, and more. This gives students an opportunity to engage with the video while reflecting on the knowledge gained from the lesson.
Note
Find comprehensive help for PlayPosit in the Integrated Technologies section of this site.
Create Course Surveys
Create surveys for your course using Qualtrics (opens in a new tab) tools.
The person creating the survey must have a UA NetID.
Step 1
Go to Qualtrics website (opens in a new tab) and log in with your UA NetID.
Step 2
Once you have created your Project/Survey go to Distribution.
Step 3
Choose Anonymous Link and copy it.
Step 4
Copy and paste this link into Brightspace Content.
Step 5
Go to your Brightspace Content area.
Step 6
Select the Module in which you'll use the survey.
Step 7
Choose New, Create a Link.
Note
To find the survey results, you will return to the Qualtrics site (opens in a new tab) and log in with your NetID. Use the Data and Analysis area to obtain your data. Qualtrics has a much better data export than Brightspace Surveys or Brightspace Quizzes, but there is no automatic way to move the results of the Qualtrics survey to a Brightspace Gradebook.
