Grade Rubrics in Written Response Questions

Note

See Connect Rubrics to Written Response Questions for information on how to attach and create rubrics.

  • Rubric Display: While grading the quiz, the rubric will appear directly below the learner's written response. Instructors can use the rubric to grade the student's submission according to predefined criteria.
  • Pop Out Option: Instructors can choose to Pop Out the rubric and the student’s response into separate windows. This allows for easier comparison and evaluation of the response and the rubric at the same time.

Learner Visibility of the Rubric

  • During the Quiz: Learners can see the rubric as they take the quiz, allowing them to understand the criteria on which their written response will be assessed.

Reopen a Student's Quiz Attempt

Use Reopen to set a student to start at the same question where they left off if they submitted a quiz before it is complete.

Note

Use of this feature does not automatically prevent students from changing questions they have already answered. If the quiz has already been set to stop students from going back to previous pages, that setting will remain in place and prevent students from changing their past answers. The setting cannot be placed retroactively.

Step 1

Navigate to the quiz and select Grade from the Actions Menu icon.

Step 2

Locate the attempt in question and select it by checking the box directly to the left of it.

Step 3

Once the attempt is selected, scroll back to the top of the table of attempts, and select Reopen.

Step 4

In the event that you have set restrictions to access the quiz by use of date or time limits, you will be prompted to modify these as needed.
