Create a Top Hat SSO Account

Note

The steps below must be completed within a web browser, not the Top Hat mobile app.

Access Top Hat

You can now use your NetID login credentials to access your Top Hat account.

Step 1

Open a web browser and navigate to Top Hat (opens in new tab).

Step 2

Type University of Arizona in the search box, then select Log in with school account. You will be redirected to a UArizona login screen.

Step 3

Sign in with your NetID and password.

Step 4

After signing into Top Hat with SSO for the first time, you will be redirected back to the Top Hat login page, where you will be presented with three options. Please choose the option that best fits your needs. The options are:

  • Sign-up as a Professor
  • Sign-up as a Student
  • Merge my existing account with SSO

First-time login options

Sign-up as a Professor

This option is the best choice if you are new to Top Hat.

Step 1

From the account creation page, choose to Sign up as a Professor.

Step 2

Enter your first and last name into the required fields, then choose Create free account.

Merge My Existing Account with SSO

If your UArizona email address is already associated with a personal Top Hat account, you will need to merge your existing Top Hat account with your SSO account.

Step 1

Enter your Top Hat-associated email and password.

Step 2

Choose Merge my existing account with SSO, which will automatically associate your Top Hat account to your NetID credentials.

Once you've followed the steps above, you will have full access to Top Hat. From there, you can create a Top Hat course and begin building content. For more information on creating a Top Hat course, please visit our help page, Create a Top Hat Course.
