Preview Content

Whenever you have a slide or interactive element highlighted in the content tree, a preview of that item will be shown in the pane on the right side of the course content page.

Rearrange Existing Content

The simplest way to rearrange your slides and/or the interactive elements between them is to drag and drop them into place within the content tree. This method can be used to move questions and discussions between slides, rearrange slides within a deck, or move slides between decks.

Copy Content

Step 1

To duplicate slides and/or interactive elements, check the corresponding box in the content tree.

Step 2

Select Copy at the top of the tree.

Copy content steps

Delete Content

Step 1

Select the item to remove a slide and/or interactive element entirely from the content tree.

Step 2

Select Delete above the Preview Pane. If you wish to remove multiple items at a time, check them off and select Delete at the top of the tree.

Rename Content

If you need to rename an individual slide or slide deck file, select that item in the content tree and choose Rename above the Preview Pane.

Edit Slides

Step 1

Select the slideshow file (or an individual slide) in the content tree.

Step 2

Choose Edit in PowerPoint on the right side of the Preview Pane. This will open the slideshow in Microsoft Office PowerPoint Online.

Edit in PowerPoint button

Step 3

Your slides can now be edited using the full functionality of PowerPoint. This works for slideshows uploaded to Top Hat in the ".pptx" file format. If you want to edit a set of slides in a different file format, we recommend converting the original file to ".pptx" and re-uploading it to Top Hat.

Note

  • Adding, rearranging and/or deleting slides should be done using the Edit in PowerPoint functionality wherever possible. Edits made outside of Edit in PowerPoint will be overwritten when the slides are synced back to Top Hat.
  • Selecting Edit Anyway will allow you to proceed with editing your slideshow. Keep in mind that the additions/deletions/rearrangements you made to your slides in the content tree will not be preserved when you sync your edited slides back to Top Hat.
  • If you had embedded questions within a slideshow that you then edited, the questions will remain in their original location amongst the newly edited slide.

Step 4

Once you have completed the edits to your slides, select the Saved to Top Hat drop-down in the upper center section of the window.

Step 5

Select Save and return to... in the window that appears.

Saved to Top Hat menu

Step 6

Once changes to a slide have been processed, that slide will re-appear in the content tree. If needed, you can download a copy of your edited slides once the updated deck has been fully synced back to Top Hat.
