Top Hat Polling

Top Hat's polling feature allows instructors to upload or create content utilizing Top Hat's website. Quizzes and polls are one of the best ways to gauge students' progress. Top Hat Polls can highlight concepts in different, interactive ways.

Choose from 14 question types, including matching, word answer, and click-on-target. Students can respond from any device with a web browser, including laptops and mobile devices. Instructors can save time with auto-grading, and students can benefit from instant feedback. Instructors can easily integrate engaging interactions into a course.

Top Hat Attendance

Top Hat's automated-attendance feature offers standard, or location-based attendance options. Instructors can pre-set when they would like attendance taken, or take attendance on-demand. Instructors then provide students with the 4-digit attendance code generated by Top Hat. Students can report their attendance simply by entering the 4-digit attendance code for the day, from any web-browser or the Top Hat mobile app. For more information on automating attendance for your course, please visit our help page: Take Attendance with Top Hat

Brightspace Integration

Top Hat integrates seamlessly with Brightspace and allows instructors to sync their course roster from Brightspace into Top Hat, as well as syncing Top Hat grades into Brightspace. Top Hat content can be embedded in a Brightspace page or presented live, and any graded activities can easily sync to the Brightspace gradebook. For more information on connecting Top Hat to your Brightspace course, please visit our help page: Connect Top Hat to a Brightspace Course

Top Hat Pages

Top Hat Pages hosts course materials within the course and allow instructors to design interactive documents. A Top Hat Page may contain reading material, images, questions, discussions or videos. Top Hat Pages are assigned to students in either Homework or Review mode.

Top Hat Test

Due to Top Hat’s limitations for providing accessible exam options for students with disabilities, UCATT and the Disability Resource Center (DRC) agree that Top Hat is not a reasonable exam platform for campus use. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you do not use this exam feature for your class until the issues are fixed.

If you have any questions or concerns about our recommendation, please contact the DRC at accessibility@arizona.edu or UCATT at intech@arizona.edu.
